The All-Progressive Grand Alliance {APGA} National Chairman Ozonkpu Dr Victor Ike Oye, on behalf of the party’s National Executive Council and all the party faithful mourns the lawmaker with a tribute.

The full text of the tribute reads in part.

Like a thunderbolt from the blue the news came, unsettling the mass of our members and throwing the nation’s political landscape into spontaneous mourning.

We waited in utter stupefaction, disillusionment and despair, still believing that some miracle would happen, as we digested the sad and unfortunate news of the passage of our beloved and iconic representative, Hon. Chief Ossy Prestige.

As days passed and nothing changed, we then summoned the courage to pen this tribute.

Ossy, as many chose to call him, was more than a member of our great party. He lived and died serving APGA.

This fact was epitomized in his many accomplishments as a suave and ebullient lawmaker, unflappable martinet, committed community leader and successful businessman.

His popularity also cut across religious, tribal and political lines. No wonder he led the APGA Caucus in the House of Representatives with sagacity, grace, poise and altruism.

For us in APGA this loss is not only grievous but irreplaceable. His place will be difficult to fill.

As we mourn this great Nigerian, we have not lost sight of what he stood for throughout his short, but rewarding political odyssey.

He stood and fought for the masses, especially the weak, poor and oppressed. He showed them love and affection in great measure through many of his empowerment programs and scholarships.

His loyalty to our party was infectious and worthy of emulation. He was ready always to make personal sacrifices for the good of our party and his constituents.

Individually and collectively, Ossy represented different things to different persons. He was gentle, tranquil, kind and spiritual.

You can then imagine the weight of the loss and grief we experience at the moment.

Mourn we must; but we are greatly consoled by the life of service to God and man he led. It is from this that we draw our hope that the good Lord whom he served dedicatedly would receive his soul in paradise.

We will make sure that his vision for our party and his Aba North/South Federal Constituency is stoutly sustained.

We believe that his memory and the physical infrastructure he championed while the journey lasted would not be allowed to die or fade away.

We shall stand by his family in thick and thick and immortalize him as much as we can, so that generations unborn would know that there was once a great man as Ossy Prestige.

May God grant his family, all APGA members, his political and business associates the fortitude to bear this seemingly irredeemable loss.
