UNIPORT Inaugurates NIMASA DG As CELTRAS Chairman
CELTRAS DIRECTOR-General (DG) of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Bashir Jamoh, has been inaugurated as Chairman, Governing Board of the Centre for Logistics and Transport Research (CELTRAS), College of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT).
The inauguration, which occurred on the college’s Institute of Petroleum Research Auditorium, was supervised by the performing Vice-Chancellor of UNIPORT, Professor Stephen Okodudu. It had in attendance many educational and non-tutorial workers.
Jamoh’s investiture adopted his appointment in October as Chairman of the ten-member Governing Board of CELTRAS. Okodudu had mentioned Jamoh was chosen by advantage of his place as Director-Basic of NIMASA, emphasising that his appointment “is an eloquent testimony to your excellent contributions to nationwide improvement.”
In his remarks after the inauguration of the Board, the NIMASA Director-Basic, who holds a doctorate in Logistics and Transport Administration from the College of Port Harcourt, stated he felt honoured “to guide this nice group in the direction of the accomplishment of the noble mission and goals of the Centre for Logistics and Transport Research.”
He promised to prioritise maritime schooling and professionalism within the transport sector, whereas working hand-in-glove with the Governing Board to realize the set targets of CELTRAS.
With the inauguration of the CELTRAS Board coming at a time when the Federal Authorities is making an attempt to enhance and develop the transportation infrastructure throughout the nation, Jamoh stated the Centre had its work lower out.
Earlier, Okodudu appreciated NIMASA for its contributions to CELTRAS, significantly the development of a workplace complicated for the Centre. He mentioned he was impressed with the tempo of the Centre’s progress from a humble starting in 2012.
Appearing Director of CELTRAS, Dr. Gladys Emenike, disclosed that the Centre had graduated three PhD college students, together with Jamoh.
