Niger: Gov. Sani Bello raises alarm over the worsening security situation.


Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, on Monday, expressed concerns over insecurity in the State.

However, condemned the recent attacks at Maitumbi and Kuchi villages in Bosso and Munya Local Government Area of the state by Armed Bandits.

This is contained in a press statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mary Noel-Berje.

“Bandits numbering over 50 allegedly abducted not fewer than 20 unarmed people in two Local Government Areas, leaving scores injured in the process”. She added

However, the Governor decried the incessant, nefarious activities of the gunmen and urged the people to remain calm.

And supportive of the government’s effort aimed at identifying and dislodging the criminals Noel-Berje stated.

While expressing his solidarity with the Tassapma and Kuchi communities in both Bosso and Munya Local Government Areas.

Governor Sani Bello appealed to all Nigerlites to cooperate with security agencies by providing necessary intelligence.

That would lead to the arrest of the perpetrators of such a heinous act.

He disclosed that the recent meeting of the North Central State Governors held in Makurdi, Benue State.

Provided ideas and offered a new approach in dealing with the issues of banditry in the region.

Stressing that both states and the Federal Government are doing their best to restore order in the affected states.

The Governor assured of the government’s relentless logistical support to the state security agencies and equally enjoined them to brace up.

To their responsibilities through collaborative intelligence sharing in order to defeat the bandits.

Furthermore, Sani Bello condoled with the families of those who lost their lives in the most recent attacks.

And a relief to the injured as well as those taking refuge at the Maitumbi Primary School.
