Colleges of Education Lecturers commences indefinite Strike over non implementation of minimum wage, others.

College of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) and College of Arabic and Allied Institutions Academic Staff Union (COLAASU) both at the Kwara State College of Education and College of Arabic and Islamic Studies Ilorin Chapter have embarked on an indefinite strike to further press home their demands.

Speaking on behalf of the Joint Unions, the leaders of the Joint unions noted that the decision to down tools became necessary over nonimplementation of the new minimum wage since April 2019, disparities on tax deductions/over taxation and injustice melted on its members on 65/40 years of retirement age/ length of service.

Meanwhile, the State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq in his reaction maintained that the College of Education Lecturers are being mischievous and the negotiation on the minimum wage is still ongoing

The striking lecturers however vow to continue with the strike until their needs are met accordingly.
