Igando-Ikotun L.G.A Explore Means of Boosting IGR to Complement Allocation

The Executive Chairman of Igando-Ikotun L.C.D.A of Lagos State, Hon. Morenike Adesina Williams during the 2020 budget retreat urged the Council to concentrate more on enhancing her Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

Who discloses that the council chairman said this during this year’s 2020 local government budget retreat.
The retreat was held at Omotosho Hall Secretariat Ikotun, Lagos.
Morenike noted, “we are gathered here to critically reflect on our past performance,
To X-ray our present position, and realistically project our future.”
She hinted that last year’s budget performance was not too encouraging, even as she urged revenue collectors.
Of the local government to look inwards and improve on the dwindling IGR.
“Everybody needs to pay their taxes and rates. It is mandatory. We will use all legal means to collect our revenues from defaulters.
We will also use massive public enlightenment on revenue generation”, she said.
The Council helmsman further opined that any local government that wants to survive must have a solid IGR base.
“The Local Government is blessed, hence the need for us to think outside the box and explore other means of boosting our IGR to complement Federal allocation.
We must all be part of this process that is why we are here to discuss and cross-fertilize ideas for the benefit of all and sundry.
“Our overriding concern should be the harnessing of our efforts, resources, and expertise.
And the utilization of the same in the most efficient manner to sustain the development we have recorded thus far, the council Chief stated.
